Educational Background
In July 1983, he graduated from the Department of Philosophy of Lanzhou University with a bachelor's degree in philosophy.
In July 1986, he graduated from Jilin University with a master's degree in foreign philosophy.
In December 1994, he graduated from Jilin University with a PhD in Philosophy.
Work Experience
From July 1986 to August 1999, he worked in the Department of Philosophy, Shandong University. During this period—
From 1986 to August 1988, he was an assistant professor.
From 1988 to October 1992, he was appointed as lecturer.
In October 1992, he was promoted to associate professor.
In October 1996, he was promoted to professor by exception.
From July 1996 to July 1999, he was the director of the Graduate Training Office and the Director of the Degree Evaluation Office of Shandong University.
In September 1999, he was transferred to the Department of Philosophy, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Tsinghua University. He became a doctoral supervisor in March 2000 and served as the deputy director of the Department of Philosophy from October 2000 to March 2008.
He has been the Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department of Philosophy since October 2008.
From August 2001 to August 2002, he was a visiting professor at Sungkyunkwan University in Korea, funded by the Korea Foundation for Higher Education.
From August to October 2010, he was a visiting scholar at Harvard University.
Since November 2015, he has been a professor at the School of Marxism, Tsinghua University.
